TASMANIA

GOLF TOUR

11 Days | 5 Rounds of Golf

🗓 13 - 23 November 2024

🇦🇺 Hobart, Launceston & Barnbougle, Australia

AUSTRALIA’S PREMIER GOLF DESTINATION

In golf terms, Barnbougle is young. Whilst the rolling fairways of the courses, set amongst the wild and dramatic landscape, look as though they were established long before we could jump on a plane and fly across Bass Strait to Tasmania, it was in just 2004 that the first course – The Dunes – opened for play.

Designed by renowned modern golf architect Tom Doak and Australia ex-European tour pro and course designer Mike Clayton, Barnbougle Dunes was once a strip of land along the coast of a potato farm on Tasmania’s north east coast.

Rugged mountains and crystal blue waters shape the island state of Tasmania. Though affectionately known as the Apple Isle, you’ll find a wonderful selection of premium seafood, cheese, honey, truffles, whisky, gin and crisp, full-bodied wines in Australia’s southernmost region. It’s a place to enjoy the finer things in life and that goes for the golf, too, with Australia’s #2 and #4 courses on the line up. It’s time to treat yourself, go on, you deserve it…

Play your way through the best courses Tasmania has to offer, including Lost Farm (#2 in Australia) and The Dunes (#4 in Australia) at Barnbougle.

You’ll also tee off at golfing gems, Launceston Golf Club and Tasmania Golf Club, and watch out for the signature 11th at Royal Hobart Golf Club with six bunkers surrounding the green!

Start your sojourn in the capital, Hobart. Explore the city and discover the World Heritage listed Australian Convict Historic Site at Port Arthur. Continue north to Launceston and play a hole at the oldest golf course in the southern hemisphere! We’ll indulge in rich wines and cheeses amongst the sensational natural scenery and native wildlife.

We save the best until last… A coastal hideaway and golfing paradise, Barnbougle will show you both luxury and homely comfort. Its two courses are both ranked in the top 40 courses worldwide, so you know you’re in for two spectacular rounds. You’ll stay in the luxury golf lodge that overlooks the courses and Anderson Bay for the perfect secluded getaway.

Discover the treasures of Tasmania and enjoy the finer things on this golf sojourn with a fun-loving group of travellers just like you.

Where will we go…

This evening, you’ll meet your fellow travellers over a welcome drink at Longhorne Smoke House.

  • 14 November 2024 - Day 2 - SCENIC: Tasmania Golf Club

Ranked 5th in the state, this course poses another challenging yet sensational round. Undulating fairways lead to well bunkered, breaking greens that reward the strategic golfer. Watch out for the signature 3rd with a fantastic length of 530m that curves to the natural shape of Barilla Bay.

Non-golfers enjoy a morning tour by bus to Mt Wellington followed by a scenic cruise along the Derwent River culminating in a wander through Australia’s largest private collection of art and artefacts - MONA.

Relax tonight with an evening at leisure.

  • 15 November 2024 - Day 3 - GOLF TREASURE: Royal Hobart Golf Club

With gently contoured fairways, manicured greens, and a demanding layout, it’s no wonder this beauty is ranked #6 in Tasmania. You’ll be greeted with a challenge at this championship course with risk and reward holes that require great drive and accuracy. It’s also renowned for the quality of its bunkers with six surrounding the green on the 11th!

While the golfers tee it up, non-golfers will explore the fabulous city on a Hobart Explorer Coach and Tram Tour. You’ll see iconic treasures including Sullivan’s Cove - Hobart’s birthplace and ferry terminal.

Enjoy an evening at leisure to explore the hotel’s facilities. Take a dip in the heated indoor pool or wind down with a drink at the bar. Step outside for a fantastic variety of restaurants, just a short walk away.

  • 16 November 2024 - Day 4 - Hobart - Port Arthur Sightseeing

This morning enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we set out to explore the beautiful Port Arthur. Port Arthur Historic Site in Tasmania, is one of Australia’s favourite destinations. Located just 90 minutes from Hobart, it is a place of global significance. Port Arthur is one of the 11 places that together form the UNESCO Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property. Port Arthur is the best-known symbol of Australia's convict past: it is an iconic site that represents one of the foundational stories in the State's and the nation's history. The local community values the Site as a former township in which many of them were born and grew up.

Learn about the site’s history as you wander through ruins and restored buildings and marvel at the natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula.

Tonight, enjoy an evening at leisure.

  • 17 November 2024 - Day 5 - Hobart to Launceston

Today we farewell Hobart as we journey on to Launceston. On the way, we’ll visit the oldest course in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy a full day at the Bothwell Golf Club.

Established in 1822, Bothwell Golf Club is situated on Ratho Farm, part of the Historical Village. It’s full of charm and old timey vibes. We’ll play one hole on this famous course.

We’ll then enjoy lunch and a whisky tasting in the village before checking out the Australasian Golf Museum with a fascinating collection of clubs dating back to the 1800s and golf balls dating back to the 1400s!

This afternoon we check in to our hotel in the town centre, a stone’s throw away from shops and restaurants.

    Enjoy an evening at leisure.

  • 18 November 2024 - Day 6 - Launceston - Tamar Valley

Your tastebuds will be taken for a ride today with a food and wine tour, and this is far more than your standard wine tour!!! We’ll taste and learn about a range of delectable wines and enjoy a gourmet lunch. Along the way, we’ll venture through beautiful scenery.

Throughout the day you can relax and enjoy short drives to each destination. Along the voyage, you will visit some of the Tamar Valley’s boutique vineyards and cellar doors, where you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious award-winning, cool-climate wines that have made the region famous. There will be scenic stops too.

Tonight, enjoy an evening at leisure.

  • 19 November 2024 - Day 7 - TASSIE’S MOST PRESTIGIOUS: Launceston Golf Club

Tasmania’s oldest 18 hole course is carved from natural bushland and blends seamlessly into its surroundings. The par 72 poses many challenges: it will have you using every club in your bag and rewards those who take a risk. The signature hole is titled ‘Spion Kop’ and presents a daunting par 3 over a steep valley.

Non-golfers have a day at leisure to explore Launceston. From innovative cuisine to thrilling nature and world-class culture, there is so much to see and do in Launceston.

Relax tonight with an evening at leisure.

  • 20 November 2024 - Day 8 - Launceston to Barnbougle

This morning, we’ll embark on a 1 hour cruise though Cataract Gorge. You’ll glide past beautiful scenery in the naturally formed reserve with colourful gardens, and rolling cliffs.

After the cruise, we’ll make our way to Barnbougle where natural treasures abound. Check in to Lost Farm, the luxury golf lodge that is home to the two sensational courses you’ll be playing. After you’ve settled in, we’ll get together for a chipping and putting competition! Between putts, sip delectable wines and enjoy some delicious cheeses. We’ll congratulate our winner then enjoy a night at leisure.

  • 21 November 2024 - Day 9 - SPECTACULAR: Barnbougle Dunes

Ranked #4 in Australia, The Dunes is a spectacular example of traditional links golf. A delicate blend of breathtaking landscapes and an undulating layout intertwined with grassy dunes result in truly thrilling golf that will leave every golfer craving more. Situated on the dramatic North East coast, your round here will be nothing less than spectacular. The Dunes requires a game of strategy and favours tactical shots. The fairways are wide and the greens roll with the natural undulations. Beware the 4th featuring the largest bunker in the southern hemisphere!

Non-golfers enjoy a day at leisure to relax.

The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Cheers with a beer and some pizza at the Sports Bar, or opt for the self-cook BBQ pack to show off your masterchef skills. For a hearty meal, The Dunes Clubhouse is perfect and overlooks the course and the coast. If you’d like something a little fancy, wine and dine at the Lost Farm Restaurant and Lounge with sensational views of the course and sunset (reservations essential).

  • 22 November 2024 - Day 10 - #2 IN AUSTRALIA: Barnbougle Lost Farm

We’ve saved the best golf for last …

Ranked #33 in the world, Lost Farm is a sensational links experience right on the coast. Though just across the river from its older sibling, the course offers a vastly different experience over its 20 holes. The captivating layout perfectly compliments the natural shape of the land resulting in a traditional and strategic game. Watch out for the sand dunes that are significantly steeper than those on The Dunes and strategically placed to defend the green. It’s safe to say, Lost Farm provides a challenging but deeply satisfying round you’ll never forget.

Non-golfers will indulge in a relaxing spa experience at Barnbougle Spa.

Tonight, we’ll come together in the charming comfort of Lost Farm Restaurant and Lounge for our farewell dinner and drinks. We’ll raise a glass to our champions and the new friends we’ve made.

  • 23 November 2024 - Day 11 - Tasmania to Home

    It’s time to farewell Tasmania!
