Although animals can be seen throughout the year, the popular time is in the spring. From black and brown bears coming out of hibernation during spring; to elk, moose and big horned sheep grazing the land. You can also spot mountain goats, squirrels, chipmunks and whales.

British Columbia is home to literally thousands of rivers and lakes. Some of the most amazing glacial lakes known for their aqua blue and turquoise colour include the magnificent Lake Louise, Lake Morraine and Peyto Lake in Banff, as well as Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park.

4. GLACIERS 

Canada is also well known for its glaciers, of which approximately 17,000 are found in Alberta and British Columbia. The Icefields Parkway, along with its jaw dropping scenery and cascading waterfalls, has over 100 ancient glaciers.

9. KELOWNA

Kelowna, which means Grizzly Bear, has a rich history. First Nations settlement began here 6,000 years ago by people who thrived on hunting, fishing, and trading. Since three Oblate missionaries set up a mission here in 1959, the population has grown to more than 130,000. Renowned orchards, farms, and vineyards and over 40 wineries thrive minutes outside the city. 

10. JASPER NATIONAL PARK

Started as a trading post in northern Alberta, it became a national park in 1907. Glaciers, springs, lakes, waterfalls, forests, snow-capped mountains, and wildlife make this a must-see natural destination and serve as a backdrop for the nearby village of Jasper.
